What is Wegovy and How Does It Work?
Wegovy is part of the GLP-1 receptor agonists class of medications. It works by mimicking the GLP-1 hormone, enhancing insulin secretion, lowering glucagon release, and slowing gastric emptying, which promotes weight loss.
Differences Between Wegovy, Ozempic, and Semaglutide
Wegovy and Ozempic both contain semaglutide but are approved for different purposes and at different dosages.
Ozempic: Approved for managing type 2 diabetes, Ozempic contains a lower dose of Semaglutide.
Wegovy: Specifically approved for weight management, Wegovy contains a higher dose of Semaglutide.
